Edinburgh recorded back-to-back league wins over Glasgow Warriors and Connacht in January, and last night's 24-16 success over the table-topping Ospreys ensured they built on that upturn to move within a point of the top six.
Hart, whose second-half try contributed to him being named man-of-the-match at Myreside, admitted it was vital for the hosts to pick up where they left off last month.
"The boys carried some really good form into that break and it's always tough to come back from those two weeks off in the PRO12, especially when we have got a lot of guys away with the Scotland team," the New Zealand-born half-back said.
"I haven't featured so much this season so I was very excited to get the opportunity and I think there were a lot of guys like that, so you could feel the excitement and how important it was to get the result, especially coming off that break.
"I felt we were a bit helter-skelter in the first half. We showed some good signs at stages but couldn't really put it together.
"So to go in with a lead at the break was huge for us knowing that we had a lot more to offer in the second half."
The man-of-the-match was also pleased to see his name on the score sheet, although he was quick to thank the Edinburgh pack for their role in the close-range try.
"I always have an eye on the try line when we are that close," he added.
"The forwards put in some really good work to put the Ospreys on the back foot, and they produced some good pick-and-gos, and then I saw the gap and slipped in there.
"I'll give the credit to the forwards - they probably don't like to see the scrum-half scoring from that close, they want it themselves, but I'll take it!"
