Denton has been an important figure for Edinburgh in the GUINNESS PRO12 this season with nine appearances and two tries to his name.
But he could do little as the Scots struggled against an impressive Irish outfit that saw Munster man Paul O'Connell open the scoring and Sean O'Brien cross the whitewash twice.
For Denton and co the best they could muster was a Finn Russell try while Greig Laidlaw added five points with the boot.
And Denton wants to see Scotland develop a ruthless streak.
"We don't have that killer instinct and we haven't learned how to win," he said. "It's a habit and teams like Ireland have developed that habit but we need to take a look at ourselves.
"There are positives that we can take as a team but I can understand the frustration of the nation.
"We share the same frustration. There are a few things that could have happened early on which could have changed everything but it wasn't good enough from us."
