And the 24-year-old has now signed a two-year deal to play in French rugby's second tier.
Munster CEO Garrett Fitzgerald said: "The move to France represents a great opportunity for him.
"Unfortunately the past couple of seasons have been quite injury-blighted for Luke, but now that he's fully fit, it's important that he plays on a consistent basis.
"I would like to thank Luke for his service to Munster Rugby and we wish him all the best with the move to France."
D'Arcy was the top try scorer and player of the year in Division 1A last term. And his arrival follows the signings of Jordan Couglan and Francis Saili.
Fitzgerald added: "Matt will join us on a three-month contract initially where we will monitor his development.
"He has proven both his talent and leadership in the club game and it's great that he now has the opportunity to play professional rugby."
