The 20-year-old is competing with a number of talented back-rowers for playing time at Newport, including the likes of Nic Cudd and James Benjamin.
But despite their friendly rivalry, Griffiths claims having someone like Cudd around the club is only of benefit to him.
"I've got a lot of respect for Nic. Some guys don't want the opposite number to do well but he always comes up and gives advice and a couple of pointers," Griffiths told the South Wales Argus.
"We are totally different players and he is more of a defensive player and is great over the ball while I like to attack with ball in hand and maybe carry a bit more.
"It was frustrating at the start not getting too much game time with Nic and James Benjamin being two really good players but I've been fortunate enough to have a run of games that I've enjoyed.
"There's a lot of competition in the back row and I need to aim towards making the No.7 jersey my own."
