And so far that form has carried on to Europe, as the 23-0 victory over Agen brought up their fourth win in five in the competition.
However, Alan Solomons' troops remain one point behind Pool 5 leaders Grenoble and, so high are the stakes, that they could end this weekend with a home quarter-final or knocked out altogether.
And flanker Watson is desperate to help his side keep the good times rolling in Europe.
"We knew it was going to be tough against Agen and a bit of a grind - we had to build an innings a bit and break them down," Watson told The Scrum Magazine.
"I didn't see it being as tough as it was to get the tries, but the main thing was that we got there eventually and got the bonus point which was needed.
"It will be a step up in quality against Grenoble, playing away in France is always very tough. I'm not sure what sort of team they'll put out, but no matter what, it's going to be hard and hopefully a few of us will keep our places and help the team through to the next stage."
