The Irish province now take the fight to defending champions Glasgow Warriors on Friday as they look to rack up their third league victory in a row.
And though they may enter the clash with their tails up, O'Connor is under no illusions that standards must rise.
"It was a bit annoying," O'Connor told the Belfast Telegraph.
"People falling off tackles, penalties at the maul and things like that, so it was a bit frustrating but thankfully we got the win in the end.
"We said during the week that Dragons like to maul and that's where we wanted to take them on.
"To get the penalty try this week, and the score last week, we want to get a try that way every week. That's our aim.
"Their maul, last week Leinster didn't deal with it at all, but we made sure they didn't get any traction. They just got traction in other places that they shouldn't have."
With a host of key figures temporarily departing the Ulster squad on international duty, O'Connor was left to call the line-out and set-piece - a responsibility he relished.
"It's an easy job when everyone knows what they're doing," he added.
"Even Clive (Ross), he can swap into second-row no problem. In training he'd be in there running against us so everyone knows what they're at."
