The former soldier was handed his first international cap against Australia in the summer, but after being announced by head coach Andy Robinson as a starter on Sunday he can't wait to get stuck into his latest mission.
"I didn't think I would ever be back at Murrayfield playing rugby again, let alone for Scotland," Grant told the Scottish Daily Record.
"Coming towards the end of my time at Edinburgh I was thinking about not playing rugby again.
"I'm so grateful and so happy it has worked out. But when I left Edinburgh I would have said I didn't have a hope of ever playing for Scotland.
"However, moving to Glasgow gave me game time and that's what sparked things for me.
"I was short of confidence and I needed to get out there and test myself again.
"I was suddenly playing week in week out for a professional side and my confidence began to build.
"People had a lot of confidence in me at Glasgow and I am so grateful for this chance."
