The 23-year-old had travelled to New Zealand back in 2011 alongside the likes of Grant Gilchrist on the Macphail Scholarship, and made his Guinness PRO12 debut at Leinster in 2014 - remarkably replacing Dougie Fife on the wing and providing an assist to try-scorer Tomas Leonardi.
But Turner admits being part of the team that lifted the Ladies' Cup at last weekend's Melrose Sevens was one of the highlights of his Edinburgh tenure so far - after they saw off Jed-Forest in an exhilarating final.
"Growing up in Edinburgh, I wanted to represent the club from the time I began playing rugby," he said.
"I've enjoyed the opportunities I've had here and I'm looking forward to playing more and kicking on for the next few seasons.
"It was a real honour to lift the trophy with the team - it's such a legendary tournament and was a great occasion.
"My first cap did come on the wing, but I've also played back row and prop. Solly [Alan Solomons] knows my rugby-playing ability - though I'd rather play at hooker - but I'm getting game time and I'm happy to give it a go.
"I've been with Edinburgh for five years now and I really think this season is the best atmosphere and camaraderie there's ever been, it's good to see and great to be part of."
