But having won just one cap in 2009, it would appear that time is running out for the Munster stalwart to add to that.
The game against the Pacific Islanders won't count as a fully recognised international cap but while Hurley insists it's an honour to put on the green jersey he's much more concerned with maintaining his RaboDirect PRO12 form.
He told the Irish Examiner: "Right now, it's a good nod in my direction that I'm getting the slot this weekend but if there is anything I should really concentrate on, it's getting the 15 jersey for Munster.
"After that things will happen or they won't but if I don't have the 15 jersey in my team then I haven't much of an option.
"It's not an easy old spot at the moment [full-back], there are a lot of quality players around."
