Trimble keen to kick on after Parc y Scarlets mayhem

Ulster and Scarlets put on a thriller in their GUINNESS PRO12 opener, as the Irish province clawed back a 14-point deficit late in the game to snatch a 32-32 draw.

Ireland wing Trimble, who started the contest on the replacements' bench, took to the field 25 minutes from time and was on hand to grab the game's final try, Ian Humphreys' conversion securing a share of the spoils.

The try was also Ulster's fourth, adding a bonus point, and what had once looked something of a lost cause eventually yielded three points for Les Kiss' side.

Trimble admitted the match was every bit as frantic as it looked from the touchlines, as the 29-year-old's late cameo took the wind out of his sails.

However, he is already relishing another opportunity to pull on an Ulster shirt, when Zebre visit the Kingspan Stadium on Friday night.

"I got 25 minutes and I have never run so much in my life," he told URTV. "The pace was through the roof that last 25 minutes, it was end-to-end stuff and I never got my second wind.

"I kept expecting it to come and it never came but fortunately Nick (Williams) produced a massive impact and carried unbelievably well and I managed to get on the end of it and get over the line. I was pretty happy to get back into it from being that far down.

"We showed a lot of good stuff and played a lot of good rugby out there but maybe defensively we just let ourselves down a little bit.

"There are a lot of big ball carriers in that Scarlets side and a heavy pack and you just have to meet them up front. We probably let ourselves down a little bit that way but a lot to work on and we are going to get a hard time this week to make sure we are ready for Friday night."
