A Scotland matchday 22 featuring 18 Magners League players ran out comfortable 23-10 winners over Fiji on Saturday as Robinson took charge of the national side for the first time since replacing Frank Hadden.
But despite victory over a nation ranked higher than them in the IRB world standings, Robinson wants more against the Wallabies next time out.
"The first 35 minutes, we played very well, but we played in fits and starts after that," explained Robinson, who spent two years coaching in the Magners League with Edinburgh following his turbulent reign as England boss.
"We gave a lot of penalties away and knocked the ball on and the guys are a bit disappointed at that.
"We will have to raise our game next week. We are not going to get carried away, but it is a start.
"But that was a very, very good performance from the team because they've beaten quality opposition comfortably. You have to pat the guys on the back because there were a lot of very good individual performances.
"We understand the improvements we've got to make and we'll be working on doing that. Let's enjoy the moment, enjoy the win, and look forward to next Saturday."
Those sentiments were echoed by new Scotland captain Chris Cusiter, who admitted that Robinson rightly sets high standards for his team to follow.
Cusiter, whose return to the Magners League coincided with his recall to the Scotland No9 jersey, knows that a more complete performance will be needed if his side are to overcome an impressive-looking Australia.
"He (Robinson) was a bit frustrated at the errors we made," said Cusiter.
"We lost our rhythm in the second half and had a few turnovers. We got ourselves in some good positions but were not clinical enough."
