Cardiff Blues No.8 Andy Powell will undergo a fitness test tomorrow morning ahead of the British & Irish Lions opening tour game against the Royal XV in Phokeng.
Powell was stung by an insect during training in Johannesburg this week and the bite turned septic. He had his right hand strapped, but will undergo a final fitness check on the morning of the game to see if he can make his Lions debut.
Ulster back row man Stephen Ferris will also face a check up on his calf strain. Ferris is named among the replacements for the opening game.
The Lions haven't lost their opening match on tour since 1871, when Queensland beat them in Brisbane. In fact, they have only lost their first game on four of their previous 27 tours.
