After impressing on the 7s circuit, the 22-year-old joined Newcastle's Academy and has since gained extensive experience in the Guinness Premiership and European Challenge Cup and now he revealed he is looking forward to the next challenge in his career in Scotland.
Visser said: "I felt it was time for a new challenge; the Magners League is a good competition and it is good to see Edinburgh doing so well last season.
"It is a bit of an honour I guess to be Andy's first non-Scottish signing. I'm really looking forward to working with him because he is such a good coach.
"I want to fight my way into the Edinburgh team because I know there are already some good wingers up there right now.
"Hopefully I can establish my name in Scotland and help Edinburgh secure the championship next year."
Despite growing up in the Netherlands, Visser stresses he always wanted to be more like rugby star Mark van Gisbergen than Dutch football legend Marco van Basten; after watching his father captain the national team.
He added: "My dad played rugby all his life, so I was raised playing the game. My dad captained Holland for 15 years and I just grew up with it.
"Rugby has always been my choice and it has proved to be the right way to go. We didn't really know about professional rugby for many years in Holland because it is still an amateur sport over there.
"I didn't realise I could play full-time until I was spotted playing at the Heineken 7s in Amsterdam. Some of the Newcastle Falcons players saw me play and they put a good word in for me and I eventually joined the Academy there.
"I was the first professional rugby player in Holland and now I'll be the first one to come to Scotland; it doesn't get any better I guess."
Edinburgh is not an unfamiliar city for the powerful winger, who measures in at 6ft 4" and weighs 16 stone, because his friend, former Falkirk goalkeeper Tim Krul used to live in the Capital.
He said: "I've been up a couple of times before and Edinburgh is a good city. One of my friends, Tim Krul played for Falkirk Football Club on loan last season.
"He is from Holland as well and has now moved back to Newcastle United. He lived right in the centre of Edinburgh and I'm excited about moving to the city."
Visser also says he is looking forward to working with assistant coach Rob Moffat, who is in charge of Edinburgh's back division, next season.
He said: "When I first spoke to Rob he came across as being a really nice guy and he knows his stuff, so I'm also looking forward to working with him."
Visser has shown his commitment for the 2009/2010 and now Edinburgh supporters are being encouraged to follow suit by signing up for a great value Season Ticket package.
