McCall names team to take on Glasgow

David Humphreys starts for his province at Fly Half with Paddy Wallace dropping to the bench. Mark McCall said this of David's inclusion in the starting lineup:

"Like every other position in the team there is a lot of competition for places and Paddy Wallace has started the last two games. David did really well coming off the bench against Leinster on Friday and deserves his first start of the season"

The other main change in the starting lineup sees former Australian lock Justin Harrison partnering Ryan Caldwell in the second row with new Ulster signing Carlo Del Fava being named on the bench. The back row shows no changes from the Leinster game with Kieron Dawson lining up alongside Neil Best and Stephen Ferris named as Number 8.

Bryn Cunningham retains his starting place as Full Back with Tommy Bowe and Mark McCrea being named on the wings, Andrew Trimble will partner Scottish international Rob Dewey in the centre and the strong Scotsman will be lining up against several of his International team mates in an Ulster shirt for the first time.

David Humphreys and Isaac Boss will form the half back partnership with Kieran Campbell named as scrum half cover on the bench. Included in the squad for the first time this season is hooker Stuart Philpott who is named on the bench and will be hoping to win his second cap for his province.

A packed Ravenhill witnessed a dramatic fight back against Leinster last week which saw Ulster turn their game around from being 13-nil down to drawing the game 16-16. Ulster have been able to take several positives from that performance and McCall said this of the game

"We identified our defence as a problem against the Scarlets and on Friday against Leinster it was clear that progress had been made, although they had a lot of the ball we had good structure and shape to our game. When we play our game as we did in the last thirty minutes against Leinster we show that we are a good team with some great players"

Glasgow are currently 7th in the Magners League table and have not been beaten at Firhill this season and drew to a nearly full strength Munster side at the weekend. The Ulstermen have won on their last two visits to Glasgow, including a 27-18 victory on their only previous appearance at Firhill in April 2006. McCall said this of the Scottish side:

"Everybody accepts that in the last two years Glasgow have probably been the most improved side in the League, they have recruited well and made some big signings including Daryl Gibson from Leicester. The Warriors have also benefited from the demise of the Borders and have signed some of their top players including Scottish Flanker Kelly Brown. Their home record is impressive with only a couple of defeats at home in the last 14 months, one of those defeats was to us and we hope that it is going to be a happy hunting ground for us yet again tomorrow night ."

Glasgow Coach Head coach Sean Lineen said this of the fixture:
"This is the last of our run of home games against Irish opposition and it's going to be the hardest. There is no way Ulster are a bottom of the league side. They have strong running backs and a powerful pack.
