He has featured just twice for Munster so far this season and is yet to appear in the RaboDirect PRO12 as a result of the injury, but will start Tuesday's match at the Bowl.
Also featuring for Munster will be Niall Ronan, out of action with injury since late November and Luke O'Dea whose last game at senior level was just before Christmas.
The side also boasts a number of highly-rated youngsters such as JJ Hanrahan, who has made seven RaboDirect PRO12 appearances this season, and others who are still waiting for their chance.
And Malone believes lining up alongside O'Connell will be a great learning experience for his young changes.
"It's about developing players, it's a perfect opportunity for that and to play guys coming back from injury," he said.
"It'll be very good for our young lads to play with Paul O'Connell, good to be around that environment.
"As usual there will be a mix with the A team again next week, with seniors getting game time which is important, and academy guys getting some development time.
"The guys who have previously being involved with the A squads, well most of those players will be involved again for next week. We very much so want to win and we've got a good record against Leinster at this level."
