Maitland, who is in Scotland's team to face France in their final Six Nations game of the Championship on Saturday, admits he is still acclimatising to the change from Southern to Northern Hemisphere rugby.
After a try within ten minutes of his Scotland debut on the opening weekend against Grand Slam-hunting England at Twickenham, Maitland has since been unable to score in games against Italy, Ireland and Wales.
Maitland, who has played twice for the Warriors since joining from Super Rugby outfit Crusaders - scoring one try - says he is still adapting to a change in tactical play with both his club and international sides.
"I could sit here and try to explain how different Super Rugby is to over here," said the 24-year-old. "But the way we (Scotland) are playing, our style and our attacking plan is based on the set-piece.
"In Super Rugby you get the ball a lot in the wide channels and the teams try to get put in space a bit more, but over here you've got to go looking for the ball.
"You've got to have a good work-rate and that is one thing I've tried to get better at - just coming off my wing, trying to look for the ball and not getting frustrated just standing there."
After his trip to Paris, Maitland will return to RaboDirect PRO12 action with table-topping Warriors at Leinster in eight days time.
