Since bursting onto the scene last year with the international set-up Hogg has had a quiet 12 months with the Warriors in the RaboDirect PRO12, the full-back splitting game time with club and international rival Peter Murchie.
But after his barnstorming display against England he would appear to be back somewhere approaching his best form, and not a moment too soon.
"We're disappointed with this result but we will draw a line under that and get ready for Italy this weekend," he said.
"First half we were right in the game but credit to England they ground out the win very well.
"I was really pleased with my own performance but at the end of the day it's a team performance and there are 14 other boys on the pitch as well. I'm pleased to do my job right, and as long as I'm playing well and the team is playing well, that's what it's about.
"Credit to Sean Lamont on the first one, he ran a good blocking line and I seemed to run clean through. And for Sean Maitland to go over in the corner is brilliant.
"The second try was a great turnover by Kelly and it was good that we showed a bit of ambition with Denton and Jacko as well and it was a good kick by Sean Maitland. Luckily enough the bounce went my way and I went over in the corner."
