But the Scarlets, who have eight RaboDirect PRO12 matches remaining this season and currently lie fifth, have grand designs on reaching the play-offs, which begin in May.
At the start of the season, Priestland would have hoped to feature for Wales in the Six Nations and potential earn himself a trip to Australia over the summer with the British and Irish Lions.
But for the time being, all he's concerned about is getting back into RaboDirect PRO12 action with the play-off chasing Scarlets.
"Everything's gone well with the surgery and the rehab's going really well," said Priestland.
"I'll hopefully be back in two months, maybe the start of April. I'd love to play a part in the Scarlets' run-in.
"I think that the squad's good enough to get into the play-offs. I'd love to play a part in that because I've never taken part in any post-season games with the Scarlets."
