Scott wants graft to characterise final five

Scott and interim assistant coach, Duncan Hodge, returned from their coaching commitments to the Scotland national team on Monday to take the helm of the club they represented over 250 times between them as players.

Scott said: "I'm delighted to be back with Edinburgh Rugby. This club gave me my first opportunity to play professional rugby and my best memories as a rugby player in a strong side.

"It means a lot to get this opportunity. I'm Scottish and very passionate about this club, having played just short of 100 games.

"The club is close to my heart and this will allow me to give something back."

The duo's first match at the helm is something of baptism of fire, as they prepare the squad to face the team currently in second place in the RaboDirect PRO12 and Heineken Cup quarter-finalists, Ulster, this Friday (kick-off 7.30pm).

Speaking on his coaching outlook for the remainder of the season, Scott added: "The work to impress our coaching ethos into our game plan began as soon as the final whistle went in the Scotland-France match, and will continue for the rest of the season.

"Edinburgh Rugby have a lot of good players so the first thing we want to see against Ulster on Friday is a good performance and a lot of hard work, in a style that suits the players and their abilities.

"It's a big challenge to make an impact in a short space of time and will certainly be difficult against a team of Ulster's quality, but it's something that Duncan [Hodge] and I will not shy away from. We're looking forward to getting stuck in."

To herald the black and red return of the former favourites, Edinburgh Rugby have cut the cost of student tickets to £5, will hand out thousands of free flags to fans on arrival at the stadium, and have slashed the cost of a sit down bangers and mash in the supporters' bar to five pounds!
