This international selection rounds off a fine comeback for Lawrie who was on the sidelines as late as December, out for 13 months with a serious knee injury.
However Johnson clearly saw enough in Lawrie's nine RaboDirect PRO12 outings this season to convince him of his international credentials.
And the front rower was quick to point out the men behind the scenes at Murrayfield for getting him to the brink of his Scotland bow.
Lawrie said: "It's testament to the physio staff and everybody at Edinburgh who put me right and got me back on the field and everybody family-wise.
"It's great to get this recognition and this opportunity.
"I'm 29 now so I've been knocking on the door for a while now. This is a great opportunity and one I want to take advantage of in the summer."
