Placed fifth in the division, Scarlets' three game winning run in all competitions ended with their 32-5 home loss to Leinster on Saturday, knocking them one place out of the play-off zone by a single point.
Conversely, Edinburgh Rugby suffered their tenth successive defeat in all competitions on Friday, with their last away win in September on another trip to Wales, when they edged Cardiff Blues 21-19 at the Arms Park.
Head coach Michael Bradley, said: "It's clear we're in desperate need of a win and the players have worked exceptionally hard, in some very vocal and physical training sessions, as we prepare mentally and physically to front up to one of the top teams in the division in their own back yard.
"The players are well aware that the performances haven't been up to scratch this season but I've been impressed by their resolve, their commitment and attention to detail in how they can improve and rally together."
The inclusion of Ben Cairns at outside-centre in place of the suspended Nick De Luca is the only change to the back division while, in the pack, the release of David Denton from Scotland's RBS 6 Nations squad sees him back at number 8.
Prop Allan Jacobsen gets his first start at loose-head since January while hooker Steven Lawrie - a late withdrawal last weekend - has been passed fit to start the match.
