The reigning RaboDirect PRO12 champions currently only occupy the final play-off spot as a result of having a better points difference than the Scarlets as both sides are tied for 14 wins this season.
And facing a Glasgow side that has seen their grip at the top of the table slip over recent weeks, Rees believes victory will make their opponents' final game away to Connacht that much more difficult.
A lack of bonus points throughout the season has seemingly made the final two games must-win encounters, but Rees insists his side have the talent to allow themselves the opportunity to retain their title.
"We have spoken for a while that to defend our title we always felt we would get to a point in time where we would have to win our last two games," said Rees.
"With the swings and roundabouts of the season, with the difficult start and playing catch-up for large periods, we are where we want to be and we are comfortable with the big stage and we want to respond to that.
"I thought Scarlets were really smart with their kicking game and how they controlled possession and territory last week but Glasgow have been fantastic in the league this year and they have quality players across the board.
"It is frustrating [lack of bonus points]. There have been a high number of games where we scored three tires. A lot of it is perhaps to do with the fact that we are set up as a power-based team to squeeze and pressure opponents.
"And we do coach the total game. We don't just coach attack, defence and isolation; we try to put them all together and our defensive record of just 16 tries against shows that.
"There is no doubt we would like to develop a more attacking spirit to our game but it hasn't always been easy to put that together for any length of time given our resources.
"If we can get two wins we will put ourselves in a real healthy position. Tonight is significant as there are no two ways about it and it also creates a bit of doubt forGlasgow in their tricky last away game."
