Of the two regions' run-ins it would appear that Humphreys men have it tougher with the Scarlets having three home games while the Ospreys host Treviso this Saturday before difficult away trips to RaboDirect PRO12 leaders Glasgow Warriors and title rivals Leinster.
However last season saw the Ospreys leave it late in the season to book a Grand Final spot, going on to get the better of Leinster in the showpiece and lift the RaboDirect PRO12 title.
And forwards coach Humphreys believes this experience could be pivotal as they look to not give up their piece of silverware without a fight.
"We have been in this situation before and we know what it takes to get on a late run," Humphreys told Wales Online. "It is going to be really tight between the pair of us.
"We feel as if we know what to do but we know we can't afford not to play to the best of our ability.
"If we get three wins and we don't qualify for the play-offs, we will just have to accept that because that's all we can do at this stage.
"The Scarlets have the more favourable run-in than us and we have the toughest run of games of anybody in the top five.
"It is just a huge challenge to win those games before even thinking of bonus points.
"We are going away to two of the top teams in our final two matches when we visit Leinster and Glasgow, so that is a big ask.
"We are just focused on Treviso and if we get a win there who knows what can happen?
"But we will keep an eye on Glasgow at the Scarlets and hope they will do us a favour because that could change things."
