The Welsh region ended a run of four successive league games with a 13-13 draw at Munster, Matthew Morgan with eight points, with there now two weekends free before their next fixture against the Newport Gwent Dragons.
Ospreys go into the break fifth in the table just a point behind the Scarlets in the fourth and final play-off spot with Humphreys adamant that they can overthrow their Welsh rivals when they return to action.
"To come to Thomond Park, a place where Munster seemingly never lose, with so many players missing, not just internationals but injuries and suspensions as well, and to get two points is a very good result," said Humphreys.
"It was a really good effort from everyone. We displayed great attitude and spirit, epitomised by some outstanding defence to keep them away from scoring territory when they had possession for long periods.
"We said that at the end of this four-game patch we wanted to be in contention for the run-in and we are very much in it. We've had a difficult month, losing a lot of players and going to Ireland three times to face teams with bigger budgets.
"To get the return we have in terms of points, and in terms of performances, is extremely pleasing. There's a two week break now, which comes at the right time for some of these boys who've had a bit of a battering.
"The next time we play, against the Dragons, we'll have boys coming back to fitness and we'll be strengthened by the internationals returning into the group.
"We want them to come to us off the back of two positive results for Wales, and with a clean bill of health, as we've got five massive games coming up.
"We want to successfully defend our title; we aren't going to give it up lightly, so everyone will have to pull together for the cause, starting with the Dragons at the Liberty in three weeks."
