It was harsh on Edinburgh, who nearly scored at the death through Hamish Watson and condemned the Scottish outfit to an 11th consecutive loss in all competitions.
Scarlets had been hoping for a bonus-point win to keep up the pressure on the top-four but in the end Easterby was just thankful for the narrow victory.
"It was four points gained and not a bonus point lost in my mind," he said. "At half-time we discussed a few things, our error count was absolutely shocking, we played in the wrong areas but after the break we improved on that and were much more disciplined.
"I felt we got nothing from a lot of our good play, whether that was errors on our part or indifferent calls from the referee; we made life very difficult for ourselves and could have come away with a loss in the end.
"I'm delighted to get four points but the performance was way, way below par and we know that.
"We identified that we could play a bit shorter against them and challenge them upfront, which we did really well but it just kept coming back to that last pass.
"There were also some poor decisions or we needlessly slowed the ball down, all of those things allowed them to stay in the game and we got far too little from the territory we produced.
"I'm relieved we got out of it with a win and it's now three wins from four in this small block, it's now really important we stay in that hunt in the last period of the season."
