Young fly-half Rhys Patchell again impressed, racking up a penalty and a conversion, as well as pinning Irish back in difficult conditions.
Gavin Evans scored the Blues' only try as they set themselves up perfectly for next week's clash with Leinster at the Arms Park which they need to win to keep their play-off hopes alive.
And with a number of players away on international duty, Davies insists there are a lot of positives to take from the win.
He said: "We played some good rugby in the first half and showed a lot of guts in the second.
"For us to get a win against a quality side like that is very pleasing, especially as they brought their full-strength line-up.
"We're a young team and can be inconsistent, but our desire to win games is shining through."
