Andrew Trimble scored two second-half tries as Ulster ran out 37-13 winners over the Blues at Ravenhill, cementing their position at the top of the RaboDirect PRO12 table in the process.
The Blues meanwhile finished ninth in the table with eight wins and 14 defeats from their 22 games however Davies believes they will learn from the season that has been and return stronger.
"We'll be better for this experience," Davies told WalesOnline. "It's been painful at times but you go through it and we'll keep going forward.
"It's been disappointing results-wise but the progress we've made has been phenomenal. When I turned up last May we'd lost around 15 players and it was really a rebuilding period (for us) and we feel we've got a strong platform to move forward.
"We have quality with this young group but with that comes inexperience so they will learn lessons from this year and with Gethin Jenkins and Matthew Rees coming in I think we'll be a more progressive outfit and hopefully produce the results."
