Prior to Jones arriving, having been in charge of London Welsh last term, the Dragons had already secured the services of No.8 Netani Talei, Kris Burton and Wales duo Richie Rees and Rhys Thomas.
They have also snapped up South African lock Martin Muller and Argentina prop Tetaz Chaparro.
And Jones is determined he will assess the players at his disposal before making any new additions
"The next couple of weeks is about getting to know people," he told the South Wales Argus.
"I need to get my feet under the table and work out how best to move things forward before we make any decisions about anybody."
"People think you get your signings done by April and that's it.
"That's not the case it keeps moving around for 12 months of the year and people will always come in and leave. That's the best way so you are always improving your stock, you're keeping people sharp.
"I want to create the best environment for them to show how good they are and to stay here for a very long time.
"It's not about how much money you can squander, it's about how you can manage your people and your funds to bring the best out of your resources. That's what we will do again."
