The Dragons head coach believes basing their senior, academy and age-grade teams at a new state-of-the-art facility is key to the development of the RaboDirect PRO12 club.
Hopes are high that the Dragons will move into the Ystrad Mynach site by spring 2014 which will see an end to their current arrangement which has them splitting time between Rodney Parade and Newport High School.
The Welsh region fielded a side with an average age of just 22 on Friday night as they were beaten 26-19 by Leinster, and Edwards is determined to continue to develop the club's young talent.
"Young players need good training facilities to develop," he told the South Wales Argus.
"We have some great talent here and I am confident that plenty of our players will be on Wales' tours this summer.
"The foundations need to be in place to bring them through and this would be a big step forward for us."
