The former Scotland international grabbed 17 points to help Connacht to a 22-10 win, with Kahn Fotuali'I's try and Matthew Morgan's five points with the boot just consolation for the visitors.
And having seen the Ospreys end RaboDirect PRO12 leaders Ulster's unbeaten home run just the week before, Elwood was delighted to see his side step up to the challenge.
"I'm very happy with the win. We had a tough week's training and the lads responded brilliantly," said Elwood.
"Thankfully we got our rewards. We were playing against a good team who beat Ulster last week - their first defeat at home - and we outplayed them.
"And that was the type of intensity we're trying to train at and play at. I thought Willie's try was excellent and Parksy kept the scoreboard ticking over. Thankfully we came out in the end with the four points, which is all that matters.
"Yes, there was a nervy moment when they got that penalty and were only six points down with ten minutes to go.
"We knew they were going to come at us but thankfully we weathered that storm. We got a crucial penalty and drop goal from Dan and we pushed on again."
