The Scarlets need the Warriors to slip up, as well as claiming Welsh derby honours against the Cardiff Blues on the final Super Saturday.
But having experienced a mixed season which has seen them fall in the knockout stages in both the LV= and Heineken Cups, Shingler is desperate to finish the season with a win.
"We know it's going to be tough to reach the play-offs in the position we are in but we want to end the season on a high," said Shingler.
"It's good to end with a derby game, they will always be very competitive.
"You are playing against your mates and there's an extra edge to it, so hopefully it will be a great game.
"The season has been a bit disappointing overall. We've reached a semi-final and a quarter-final and each time we've not really performed as we would have liked.
"We know we can perform better and there have been some great performances but we need to be more consistent.
"The squad is still very young though so we will get better in the future. Loads of guys are pushing each other on but moving into next year we really want to win something."
On a personal note Shingler has managed 14 appearances in the RaboDirect PRO12 this year, contributing two tries in the process.
He also made his international debut at the Millennium Stadium against Scotland as a late replacement for skipper Sam Warburton.
With Warburton, Dan Lydiate and Justin Tipuric only some of the young players pushing for a flanker spot in the Welsh side, Shingler is well aware of the challenge he faces getting back into the Test side.
But he insists he will just keep his focus on performing for the Scarlets in the hope of adding to his international caps.
He added: "It's going to be difficult to get in the squad for the tour to Australia because it's so competitive.
"I know it won't be easy but all I can do is keep performing as well as I can for the Scarlets.
"It's great for Wales to have that depth and to have such a competitive squad, but I did really enjoy making my debut.
"I'm pleased with how the season has gone as a whole, I want to finish it well now."
