The poor playing conditions at Parc y Scarlets did little to help either side play any flowing rugby, but Easterby was glad to have the opportunity to talk to his troops at the break.
Two Thomas penalties saw Scarlets take a 9-6 lead after the restart before a Matteo Pratichetti try and a Halangahu conversion put Zebre 13-9 ahead.
But after another Thomas penalty Kristian Phillips went over before Thomas added a further five points as the Scarlets secured a 22-13 victory, ensuring their Italian opponents' winless run continued.
And although Easterby declared himself satisfied with the win, he believes there were few other positives to take from the encounter.
"In the first half we weren't playing in the right areas, but in the second we were much better and we came away with a win and that's all we can take from it," he said.
"They put us under pressure in difficult conditions and we didn't really address it, but we were much better after half-time.
"They were four points which we desperately needed, but I'd say we deserved it for our effort.
"Overall, four points was about all we could take from the game."
