Having beaten Cardiff Blues in Wales earlier in the season for their first-ever victory, a home win had since proved elusive.
But they put all that right on Saturday evening, thanks mainly to three Luciano Orquera penalties as they sealed a victory that had Cavinato smiling from ear to ear.
"It was a good game, with these weather conditions it was difficult to play," he said.
"Treviso had a precise tactic: to kick long and punish our errors.
"I am happy with this result and I thank not only the players but the whole Zebre organisation.
"For example, the field today was a really high quality, with no patches of mud despite the rain before and during the game.
"We played in front of an audience appropriate to the importance of the game and this was an incentive for guys not to give up and play with determination and quality.
"Our defence has been our secret weapon and Treviso could not find solutions and were forced to kick repeatedly."
