As well as lying fourth in this year's RaboDirect PRO12, Ulster have won each of their five European clashes this season, topping Pool 5 with one match to play.
That is a trip to Welford Road to take on English champions Leicester Tigers and Diack knows victory will be another step towards that elusive trophy.
"Everyone says you've got to be involved in a couple of finals before you win one," he told the Belfast Telegraph. "We have been involved in two in the past two seasons so hopefully that has been our learning experience.
"But trophies aren't won until May or June - there is a lot of rugby between now and then. We aren't in any finals at this stage. We'll just have to cross that bridge when we get to one."
Leicester Tigers are hot on their heels in Pool 5, just two points off the pace, and defeat will see Ulster qualify second to the Tigers.
So, despite Ulster's guaranteed qualification, Diack is desperate to make it six European wins on the spin and secure a home quarter-final.
"To get a home quarter-final here at Ravenhill would be the ideal situation," he added.
"There's a hell of a lot of work to do this week ahead of the game and, of course, on Saturday evening, but we know the importance of it so we just can't wait to go out there and play."
