In the 2012/13 competition pool stages, when drawn with Clermont Auvergne, Exeter Chiefs and RaboDirectPRO12 rivals Leinster, Easterby's men didn't win a single game home or away and have looked to address their failings of last season in this campaign.
And with a victory over Harlequins at the weekend good enough to earn them a place in the Challenge Cup quarter-finals, at the expense of their opponents, Easterby insists his side will have to play even better than they did in Paris to continue their European conquest.
"There are so many permutations but the pleasing this is we have given ourselves a chance to potentially get into the quarterfinals," Easterby told the club website.
"It is not the competition we would like to get into, we would like to stay in the Heineken Cup, but the efforts of the players last weekend against Racing have given us a chance.
"We are in good health and good spirits, certainly going to Racing and getting a result with what they have at their disposal and the gulf in depth between the two sides was a fantastic result.
"We created a lot and our set-piece was excellent against what we would consider the best line-out and scrum in the competition and then we withstood some real pressure and were defending in our own 22 for a big chunk of time without the ball.
"We will have to probably play better this weekend to get a result but it was pleasing to get the win to reward ourselves for the hard work we have put in recently.
"We have given ourselves a bit of a chance and hopefully we will live up to a little bit of expectation and pressure of playing at home. We haven't won in the European Cup here for a couple of years and it is important we put that right."
Back on the opening weekend of the competition Scarlets upset Harlequins at the Stoop as tries from Rhodri Williams, Scott Williams and Jordan Williams set up a 33-26 victory.
And Easterby hopes his players can bring the good practices they showed on that day with them into the reverse encounter.
"Certain things went really well for us that day and we played some really good rugby and both sides probably at that stage of the season were looking to play a certain way and that fitted both sides," he added.
"We attacked particularly well and countered really well and then our defences stood up really well against Quins who are one of the best attacking forces in European rugby with their offload game and width.
"But that was a few months ago so we will have to try and relive a few of those memories at the weekend."
