A hand injury in the first autumn international against Japan sent Scott back to the sidelines and the Edinburgh man had hoped to return to playing action for his club.
But now back on international duty with his country, that Japan clash remains his last competitive fixture.
But Blair insists he is not worried about any ring rust with the 23-year-old Scott.
"Matt Scott is definitely one to watch. He's not played since the Japanese game in November but is very important for Scotland," Blair told the Edinburgh Evening News.
"He has got a bit of x-factor about him - and he has power and pace.
"They have lot of faith in him. I would not be surprised if he came straight back.
"Scotland played South Africa who scored two tries from driving mauls and that will have dented the pride of the Scottish pack. It is something they are working on."
