In the second half, the Scarlets could have pulled away from the Blues but wasted a couple of good try-scoring opportunities, Thomas among those culpable with a forward pass near the try-line.
But with trips to the Ospreys on Boxing Day and then to leaders Ulster in early January, Easterby was just happy to seal the win.
"We defended well but so did they. The conditions were pretty poor and it was difficult to play rugby," said Easterby, who saw his side cement their place in second in the RaboDirect PRO12 table.
"The scrum gave us a few points but it wasn't a great game. We probably missed a few opportunities in the second half to take the game away from them.
"But we're just delighted to get the four points. We did create some chances but you have to take the conditions into account, it's difficult to get any momentum.
"The players had a big week in training and I'm just delighted that we've got the win but we know we'll have to be better against Ospreys on Boxing Day.
"Hopefully that will give them something to think about and we will be able to produce a good performance against the Ospreys."
