The 24-year-old has been battling with veteran Chris Cusiter for the Warriors' No.9 shirt this season, notching up five RaboDirect PRO12 appearances.
And with Cusiter named on the replacements' bench for this weekend's Calcutta Cup clash, Pyrgos has the shirt to himself - much to the delight of Horne.
"Henry is one of the most underrated players in the country," said the versatile back. "He is a brilliant player and one of the best that I have played with."
This weekend sees the return of the RaboDirect PRO12, following a four-week break, and Glasgow, with two games in hand on the pace-setters, host Connacht.
The Warriors are well-placed to challenge near the top of the table between now and the end of the season and Horne believes they are capable of upping their levels.
"We didn't have the best of European Cup campaigns, which we are really disappointed with, but we are in a really good position in the league," added the 24-year-old.
"This time last year we had a really good run of form and it put us in a very good position.
"It is the business end of the season and the boys that aren't involved in the Scotland stuff really love this time of year."
Horne himself is still on the treatment table, recovering from ligament damage he suffered on international duty back in June.
But he is hoping to return before the RaboDirect PRO12 season is over and having a significant contribution on their title aspirations.
"I am a couple of months away but I am hoping to get back in and play with the boys as soon as possible," he said. "Hopefully I can make an impact towards the end of the season."
