But the performance against French giants Toulon, which saw them lose 15-8, offered a ray of hope for Fijian Matawalu.
And the scrum-half, who will fill in at full-back for the game against Connacht at Scotstoun, admits they need to get back to winning ways soon.
"It is clear that the results at Scotstoun have not been as we would have hoped in our last few games," he told the Glasgow Evening Times.
"What is important for Glasgow is that we maintain the level we set ourselves against Toulon in our last game.
"We are confident we have the depth in our squad to absorb that and we are just looking to get out on to the pitch and trying to get the positive result we need.
"But we put in a very big performance against Toulon and we have to make sure that's the level we come up to again."
