I think especially for kids that age - it is just to try and show them how fun rugby can be. That can be lost as they get older. It is a great way to socialise, to make friends and to have a good time.
There are so many things for young kinds. There is teaching them professionalism and discipline, as well as just having a good time, and it will be great to get involved.
How important is it to get them involved in sport from an early age?
From a Scottish point of view we want to get as many people involved in the sport as possible. I remember when I was younger, when you came away if you enjoyed yourself you would always be desperate to come back. That is the main thing and we want to make sure the Masterclass is great fun.
Is it tough to convince them to play rugby instead of football?
Especially in Glasgow - it is obviously dominated by football. That is the main focus for most schools. You go out to some of the areas that are completely dominated by football and they haven't even heard of the game.
Then you get a ball in their hands and they realise it is a game they can enjoy. Especially for bigger kids, it is good because rugby is a game of all shapes and sizes.
How did you discover the sport?
It was my old man - he always played rugby and he took me along to a club. From there I just jumped in two-footed. I loved watching Scotland and I used to go and watch games at Murrayfield.
We used to love playing games - playing touch and beating people and scoring tries. Chris Fusaro was my best friend since primary three and we used to play at the same club, Howe of Fife.
What life skills can kids learn from rugby?
I think the discipline side of it is amazing. For young kinds especially, that really sets them up for life. We will put their skills to the test and let them pit their wits against some of the pros. Hopefully they will have a great day.
