I just think everything goes back to grassroots level - if we can support the kids and hope them grow within rugby and as people, they will support us as a club.
If we can keep the kids motivated and enjoying their rugby it will only help sport in the long-term in Edinburgh.
In this day and age with people not being healthy or having the right amount of exercise, I'm hoping the programme can help turn those attitudes around.
What can the youngsters hope to learn from the experience?
For the kids it will be a huge it will be the experience to find out what it takes to be a player. It'll give them an insight into what we do and I'll do everything I can to make them really enjoy it.
A lot of people might see our games on the weekend but it will be interesting for them to learn how much preparation goes into each one of them.
Who inspired you as a youngster?
At school in South Africa before I came across to Scotland, there was a coach called Tony Richter that I still keep in contact with today - I visit him when I go back.
He was an incredible coach and when you move on in life you realise how much of an influence you yourself can have on one person, just like my coach did for me.
He was exceptional so whenever I do coaching I try and make the same impact.
Can the skills learned in rugby be used in other areas of life?
There's a lot of crossover between sport and schoolwork, key traits such as discipline, self-motivation and a strong work ethic.
Even though everyone can't be a professional sportsman those strengths can stay with you forever.
What would you say to someone who wants to make it as a rugby player?
As enjoyable as rugby is sometimes it isn't fun and games as you need to work very, very hard.
Starting out in the game could be a positive or negative experience but I think it's something everyone should try - many fall in love as soon as they start playing while others grow into it.
