New Zealander Budd has arrived in Northern Italy from the NEC Green Rockets in Japan citing the want to test himself in the RaboDirect PRO12 as a primary factor behind the switch.
The 25-year-old has also represented Northland in New Zealand's NPC as well the Auckland Blues in Super Rugby.
And in Treviso Budd believes he's found a European club with the perfect balance between attacking rugby and hard-nosed efficiency.
"I like to pop up amongst the backs, perhaps too much, but I like to run with the ball in hand," said Budd.
"I'm proud of my ability in the air and in the structured phases of play therefore the lineout is a strength of mine.
"I do like to play quickly and keep the ball alive with quick recycling of the ball.
"My preferred position is blindside flanker but also I am completely happy to adapt to any request, from No. 8 to second row.
"In the southern hemisphere we're not that familiar with European rugby but from what I do know the RaboDirect PRO12 and the Heineken Cup are two very big competitions and it will certainly be interesting to test myself in them.
"I came to Treviso because I like the way they play and to be able to compete in a championship of a very high level."
