The two finalists, Langstone and St Andrews primaries will now go head to head against each other during the half-time break at the last home match of the season, this year it will be in front of an estimated six thousand people when the Dragons entertain Treviso.
The pupils are taught the rudiments of tag rugby by our development officers who give training on a fortnightly basis, and this year Janice Chappell has managed to coach both teams that have deservedly reached the Tata Steel grand final and get to play on the famous Rodney Parade pitch.
Further exciting news is that the community department is introducing a new element to its educational programmes.
Following the huge success of the 'Second Half' programme which entails a school class visiting the ground for a day's 'out of school' learning experience that includes meeting and interviewing one of the Dragons players, it is now set to expand and will include a soccer trip as Newport County, who have seen how successful the scheme is, jump aboard our team and will offer Year 6 pupils a similar days educational opportunity.
As if that wasn't busy enough the team have also been delivering special educational days, including disability sessions, our successful partnerships days with Tata Steel and Melin Homes, as well as spreading the Regional word while on the road promoting the teaching of both French and Welsh through our community sporting and education partnerships.
All this while continuing to deliver our regular sporting, educational and social well-being programmes.
