The New Zealand-born McIntosh originally joined the Blues as a defence coach in October and led the club to a 28-23 RaboDirect PRO12 win over Ulster last weekend in his new role.
The 44-year-old acknowledges that his future with the Blues depends on the new director of rugby but he admits he and John are loving life in Cardiff.
"Of course we'd love to be here next season," McIntosh told Wales Online.
"We've got a passion for coaching and we've got a passion for those boys in that blue and black jersey.
"I have grown to love this region and love Cardiff Blues and love the boys in the jersey.
"We think we can make a huge impact here, just by being honest and marrying the cultures of Pontypridd and the valleys and Cardiff.
"We are two guys who understand exactly what both cultures are. Therefore I think it's the right place for us, but it's up to the powers that be to decide."
