Munster currently have 63 points - five fewer than leaders Leinster - while the Warriors are in fourth thanks to their bonus point win over Treviso last time out and have 56.
Crucially however, they have a game in hand ensuring that victory this weekend would edge them ever closer to second spot and a home semi-final.
The remaining top four team, Ulster, are in action on Friday night welcoming fellow Irish province Connacht to Ravenhill.
Ulster too will have their eye on the much sought after home semi-final spot, but must also be wary as any slip up could let Glasgow Warriors climb above them in the table.
Elsewhere, Leinster are also in action on Friday night against Ospreys, the team Glasgow displaced from the top four.
Ospreys are waiting to pounce should any of the top four slip up and they will know that every point counts in their bid to ensure they do not miss out on the play-offs for the second straight season.
Also on Friday, Edinburgh, buoyed from a first away win of the season in their rearranged match at Newport Gwent Dragons host Cardiff Blues, who themselves secured a morale-boosting win over Ulster last time out.
On Saturday meanwhile, the Scarlets host Zebre looking to keep their slim hopes of a top four place alive while Treviso host the Dragons at Stadio Monigo.
