As well as playing catch-up Jones' men have to look over their shoulders - Treviso's win pulling them to within two points of the Welsh region in 11th.
But with an all-Wales clash against Ospreys at the Millennium Stadium on Sunday, Jones believes his players need no extra incentive to turn their fortunes around.
"Players are always playing for their futures, whether they are with the Gwent Dragons or other clubs," Jones told the BBC.
"That's very important for all rugby players, no matter who they are playing for, to remember.
"We started the season particularly well, but [have] fallen away drastically.
"We've had a disappointing month leading into this game, but it's a high-profile weekend with two local derbies.
"We totally appreciate that they're hot favourites. But we've got to control what we can control, step up and play in their faces and put them off their stride."
