Following their 17-13 Judgement Day win over Scarlets last time out, the Blues have now strung together three victories on the spin and go into Saturday's clash with Connacht full of confidence.
It is a welcome change in fortunes for the Welsh region, who went through February and March without picking up a single RaboDirect PRO12 win.
And 28-year-old Hewitt, who signed a new two-year contract with the club earlier this week, insists it is great to see the team finally showing their potential on a consistent basis.
"We are on bit of a high after the three good wins against three really good sides," he told Cardiff Blues' official website.
"We want to continue that form hopefully in Connacht, but it is always a tough place with the conditions and everything. Hopefully go over there and get our fourth win on the bounce.
"I'm not really surprised by the turnaround in our play as we have always had the talent, the want and will to do it, but we haven't been able to put it into practise for long spells.
"We have shown glimpses of it throughout the season; against Toulon, the back to back games against Glasgow in Europe; it's a shame it has come this late but it's nice to finally have that form."
