Treviso scored their first victory of 2012 against the Dragons in their last match but have not proved their winning capabilities at the Stadio di Monigo since beating Aironi on New Year's Eve.
Their 33-32 win at Rodney Parade last Friday night owed a lot to fly-half Kris Burton's 18-point haul but for Smith the most pleasing aspect was the collective response to Aled Brew's 38th minute try.
Within three minutes of wing Brew touching down, Treviso's Luke McLean sneaked over in the corner to keep Treviso in the match and Smith believes that was the turning point.
"After we conceded that interception try our heads didn't go down, we kept our aggression and within three minutes we scored a try, that really pleased me," said Smith.
"Obviously, Sunday is the last game of the season at home and we want to put in a great performance.
"Unfortunately this season there haven't been enough home wins so we're really going to try to possess a special force.
"There will be lots of emotions for this game, this team perhaps won't be a together much longer but we've become a family and for the guys who are playing their last games we'll be giving it everything.
"We'll also be doing it for the fans because they keep believing in us and we must do our duty to the maximum for them."
