The winger left Newport Gwent Dragons for French outfit Biarritz in 2012 and conceded a lack of first-team action often left him frustrated.
However, if the 28-year-old can re-discover his form of four years ago he can expect to see plenty of game time in the GUINNESS PRO12 this season.
Brew notched 12 league tries in just 19 games in the 2010-11 season and head coach Lyn Jones would not complain if his new recruit repeated the feat this time around.
And despite his frustrations in France, the nine-time Wales international insists the experience of the last two years can help him do exactly that.
"I was pretty disappointed with my lack of ball in France so I've come back keen and hungry to get some," he told the South Wales Argus.
"I'll appreciate the possession that does come my way and I am excited about getting the season under way.
"I wouldn't change a thing, though. I enjoyed going out to France, the rugby wasn't what I expected but the lifestyle was really good and I'd like to think that I've come back more mature."
Alongside him this season, Brew finds a handful of exciting young wingers at Rodney Parade, most of whom were just academy prospects when he was last in the country.
Jack Dixon, Hallam Amos and Tyler Morgan will each be targeting a productive season and Brew is hoping to help each of them shine.
"It's been great being back," he added. "There aren't too many players left from when I was here last but it's good to see that lots of the academy boys have made the step up.
"They have come of age and it's great to see talent coming through and wanting to learn. I will try and pass on any knowledge that I've got."
