In his absence however, Ulster have maintained their unbeaten start to the season, despite being without a host of players who have earned themselves international honours with Ireland.
And Best confirmed that he will be back to bolster the ranks in two weeks' time and hopes to take to the field when Saints arrive at Ravenhill on December 15.
"The injury is coming on very well. It needed a bit of rest and time, and it has got that," Best told the Irish Independent.
"I've trained hard for the past two weeks, so hopefully within another fortnight I should be ready to start playing again.
"While the last two performances have not been particularly good, we still collected eight points. Teams will go to Italy and not win.
"Watching Ireland play and the Ulster boys that were involved over the past two or three weeks has been brilliant."
